Jason and I left the back door open while we were putting away groceries one day. I KNEW I had bought 4 white potatoes (because the I weighed them out to get 2 lbs) but when I went to put them away, there were only THREE white potatoes in there. This worried me because I know how terrible rotten potatoes smell. We started looking ALL OVER. We even looked in the trash, knowing that sometimes the kids like to throw random things away. Not in there. We looked outside. Couldn't find it. Right about the time when I was starting to second guess my sanity, I thought to myself that I should look in the watering pail that Jackson was huddled around. Sure enough, along with some grass, three grapes, four plastic spoons, and a grape vine was my lone white potato.
In an effort to cut back and save money, I've started following a blog called $5 Dinners. They have great ideas for meals that are under $5 to make. Most of the stuff they use is on sale so it sometimes ends up more...but it's still really inexpensive. Tonight I made some rice soup kind of thing. It had red and black beans, fire roasted tomatoes, tomato paste, garlic, taco seasoning, some corn and a little potato (not white haha). This turned out far better than I imagined. The kids LOVED it. I gave them about 3 crackers each and they used both their spoon and the crackers to eat their dinner. Jason and I thought it was good, too. If I were making it just for Jason and I, I would have added more spice but it was great as a mild soup for the kids.
I want to brag for a moment here. As most of you know, we've been using cloth diapers for a while now. In the last three days we've used a total of 8 disposables. For TWO kids! That's AWESOME. I really am saving us money in the long run. I know I am. Not to mention, the kids LOVE the diapers. It sounds silly, but they scream and fight when they know it's time for a disposable. When they see that I have a cloth diaper in my hand, they will literally come RUNNING for diaper change time. I like kids that LIKE to help. It makes my days so much better, not having to fight them both every few hours. I don't even mind doing all the extra laundry that comes along with it....which isn't bad at all. We don't use the dryer most times anyway and I NEVER use the dryer with the cloth diapers. We always hang dry them. It's worked out really well for us thus far, I have to admit.
I'm sorry I have no photo's to upload. I'm just about out of time. I'll post more later on. Love you all lots and lots and lots.
